Federal, state and local authorities are investigating a double homicide on the Meskwaki Settlement in central Iowa.

The Sac and Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa says Meskwaki Nation Police were called to a home late Wednesday night. They found the bodies of Gordon Lasley Sr. and Kim Lasley, a married couple.

The overnight investigation by the FBI, Iowa DCI, Tama County Sheriff's Department, Tama and Toledo Police resulted in the arrest of a male suspect. They believe he may have a connection with the case, but no charges have been filed as of Thursday afternoon.

Meskwaki Tribal Chairwoman Judith Bender released a statement today saying, "The Sac and Fox Tribe is a very close-knit community and we are all shocked and saddened by this. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and all of those who are affected by this horrific event."

Meskwaki Settlement is owned by the Sac and Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa. It has nearly 1,400 tribal members. Tribal chairwoman Judith Bender said in a statement the community is shocked and saddened by the deaths.
