Hundreds Gather To March For Life

Hundreds of Iowans braved the rain and wind to walk in the Midwest March for Life to rally against abortion.

In just a few days, thousands of people along the east and west coasts will be doing the same.

Iowans started at the Iowa State Capitol and marched to the steps of the Iowa Judicial Branch.

"Abortion is wrong! It's killing, and every one of those babies deserves a chance at life," said Laura Thomas, a rallier.

"You have the east coast and west coast, but what's happening here in the Midwest? Many people can't make the trip to either coast so we wanted to give them the opportunity to come and stand up for life," said Jennifer Bowen, Executive Director of Iowa Right to Life.

The march also fights against the 1973 Roe v. Wade case that legalized abortions under most conditions throughout the United States.

"We have to do it no matter what the elements are or what's going on. It's time to end it. We've had 41 years of decriminalized abortions and decriminalized child killing," said Bryan Kemper, President of Stand True Pro-Life Outreach.

"Obviously we're interested in overturning Roe v. Wade, and I know that'll happen, if not in my lifetime, in my kids' lifetime. More important than laws is hearts, for people hearts to change," said Jeane Bishop, a rallier.

Ralliers said banning telemed abortions, or web-cam abortions, is at the top of their list. They said they'll stand by the physicians and Iowa Board of Medicines decision to ban the practice.

"We've had over 30,000 Iowans on both sides, pro-life and pro-choice that said no more, we're not OK with this. It's going too far and that's our very top legislative priority is to end that here in the state of Iowa," said Bowen.

Bowen said they're headed back to the capitol in February to rally and propose several bills to Iowa legislators.
