An estimated 24 million Americans are buying last minute Christmas gifts.

With Christmas Day just hours away, last minute shoppers were feeling the stress.

"I have lots to do. I have six kids, five grandchildren and lots of gifts to buy! I had a lot of things I needed to come out and get," said Colette Kurth of Johnston.

"I've never waited this long! I couldn't decide what to get this year so had to wait till last minute," said Aimee McCauley of Des Moines.

For some shoppers, this situation is all too familiar.

"I've been doing this for 10 years, this last minute shopping," said Jermain Henderson of Des Moines.

When asked if he'd ever change his ways, Henderson replied, "Probably not. I'm a professional at the last minute."

For shoppers like Craig Miller of Des Moines, shopping on Christmas Eve has been a tradition for over 30 years. His father used to bring Miller and all of his siblings to the mall to do last minute shopping.

"I look forward to it the whole year. It's just a chance to get out of the house, to be with family and do some shopping and get it all done quickly," said Miller.

He said his family may think they're not getting anything at all, until they wake up on Christmas Day.

"They can't believe that we can wait so long, but every Christmas morning the right package is under the tree," said Miller.
