DES MOINES-- Fire investigators say a woman was found dead after an overnight fire in Des Moines.

Fire crews were called to 4125 3rd Street on a medical alert just before 2:30 a.m. When they entered, crews noticed heavy smoke and a deceased woman inside. Firefighters also put out a remaining small fire.

Firefighters say a fire-damaged chair was the origin of the fire. They say the fire spread from there and that an oxygen supply system was involved. Smoking material was found around the area, as well.

Firefighters say they still need to determine an ignition source and any fuels involved.

An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
