MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - The Salvation Army of Mason City has received an anonymous donation of two gold Krugerrand coins, restoring plans for the organization to hold an auction for the coins.

the charitable organization received the coins Thursday. The South African gold coins can be valued from several hundred to several thousand dollars.

The Salvation Army usually receives at least one gold coin from an anonymous donor during its annual Christmas Red Kettle Campaign. The coin or coins are auctioned off along with other items, but this year's auction had been canceled because no coins had been found.

Now that the two coins have been donated, the auction has been rescheduled for 11:30 a.m. Dec. 14 at Southbridge Mall's Center Court.
