Black Friday Comes To A Close

Hundreds of Black Friday shoppers were going to shop until they dropped to get the deals of the season.

Valley West Mall's parking lots were full Friday afternoon, as shoppers tried to get the last of the sales.

"We've been up since 3:30 this morning! We headed out to the stores in Des Moines. We've been hitting some pretty good deals, some have already been shopped out because we didn't start last night," said Christy Meeks, a shopper.

Some shoppers dragged their bags, while others had been taking turns stuffing the trunks of their cars.

"We put all of our packages in the car because we couldn't carry them all," said Meeks.

Some were racing against the clock to get the deals they wanted.

"She said ‘we'll never make it by 10', and I said we'll make it by then! So we hopped in the car, dropped her off at JC Penny's! She hopped out and she got all her stuff!" said Deborah Conesent.

Other shoppers traveled a long way to shop the sales.

"We live over an hour away, so we came at 5 a.m. We wanted to sleep for a little bit. We started shopping and before we knew it, we had spent three hours at Younkers!" said Teresa and Amber Byers.

However, it takes a lot of patience to shop during Black Friday.

"I was in line for an hour and a half at Express… it was ridiculous!" said Meeks.

After shopping all night long, the finish line was in sight.

"We're ready to carry on to few more stores, then headed home," said Meeks.

With Christmas just around the corner, Black Friday is only a start to the holiday shopping season.
