Iowa's 186th Military Police Unit served in Honduras for about a year. Many families brought in gifts to welcome their soldiers home, but one soldier had a gift unlike any other waiting for him at the airport.

Specialist Lance Dorsey's mother, Fong, and father, Rick, were ready for his arrival.

"I just miss him being around to talk to me," said Rick. "Kind of my best friend, ya know."

His sister, Sammie, said the reunion would bring on a lot of happy tears.

His daughter, Layla, was also at the homecoming. She's eight months old, which means she's never met her father.

The family has been waiting a long time, and a delayed flight meant waiting a little longer.

"Been waiting for 11 months to see him, so another half an hour is not too long to wait," Rick said.

"It'll go fast," Fong added.

Just a walk from the gate to the reception hall stood between Spc. Dorsey and his daughter.

After a tearful introduction, the wait is over for this family, and a little girl who finally gets to meet her dad.

Spc. Dorsey smiled as he held his daughter for the first time.

He and his unit were sent to Honduras to provide base defense. They also responded to bomb threats and drug trafficking incidents during their deployment.
