Tom Lueck was struck by a car while riding his bike along a Polk City road around 2:15 a.m. Sunday.

His wife Angela said despite several very serious injuries, she thinks he'll make a full recovery.

Lueck biked along the road on his way home from a night with friends. His wife waited for him to arrive, but instead, she got a phone call from Mercy Hospital. They told her that Tom had been in an accident.

"Pretty much everything went through my mind," she said. "We've got two boys that are seven years old they need their dad."

The car that sped into Tom left him with a broken tailbone, two broken legs, and a collapsed lung beneath an entire set of broken ribs.

Angela said her faith and gratitude have helped her through the last few days.

She's grateful for Tom's life and the driver who spotted him in the middle of the night.

"Tom was found in the middle of the road," she said. "Had he been in the ditch he wouldn't have survived his injuries."

She has a message for the ones who made that call to police.

"I would tell them you guys were there for a reason."

Angela holds a positive attitude about Tom's recovery.

"Things seem to be going in the right direction with Tom," she said. "He's getting better. I know we're going to get through this."

Officers believe the car that hit Tom probably has some serious damage to it. Anyone with information is urged to call the Polk County Crimestoppers.
