Indianola Burglars Working Hard on Labor Day

In Indianola's town square stores closed down for Labor Day weekend. But on three consecutive nights, burglars were working very hard in those same stores.

A closed sign hangs in the window of Uncommon Grounds after burglars ransacked the place over the weekend.

Another closed sign stands at Indianola Glass Creations, citing "unforeseen circumstances."

Yet another closing at Crouse Café, where newspapers conceal what's inside.  Three successful burglaries on the town square and two other attempts were unsuccessful.

They didn't try the front door where all the lights were, but in the back where they picked up anything they could find and they tried to smash in.

Linda Hayes from Affinity Bridals found her glass door broken, an attempt to break in by the group.

"First of all I felt angry because, how dare they?" asks Hayes.

The burglars hit the back door to the alley in all of the cases.

Randy Crum runs the Corner Sundry on the square.  He says crime sprees like this hardly ever happen in Indianola.

"Since I've been here never had anything close to what happened this last weekend, says Crum.

Police want businesses to keep valuables out of sight, lock all doors and their back clear of any objects able to break glass.

Money and one laptop were taken from the stores.
