Iowa State fans are gearing up for their first game of the year against UNI this weekend.

The tailgate lots will be filled with people for Saturday's game, but fans might want to pack a couple of extras before heading out to tailgate.

"I definitely think that we'll need even more water this time because it's going to be so hot out there," said ISU student Andrew Upah.

Fans aren't the only ones bringing in extra water.

"We've got 26,000 bottles of water in stock which is almost four to five times what we would sell at a normal game," said Associate Athletics Director Chris Jorgensen.

They will also set up tents for shade and even a few cots for anyone who overheats.

Iowa State told their fans to keep hydrated, bring sunscreen and keep themselves in the shade. Temperatures could sneak into the nineties above Jack Trice, but Cyclones said that won't keep them home.

"I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of people there," said student Caleb Thompson.

The staff said as long as everyone enjoys the tailgate safely, they don't see a reason for concern.

"While the conditions are a little more extreme than a typical game we might have in August, our fans are used to dealing with the warm conditions and we expect almost everybody to come prepared," Jorgensen said.
