Police found 40-year-old Richard Daughenbaugh severely beaten in a downtown parking lot early Sunday morning.

He died from his injuries after being taken to a hospital.

Police still have not named a suspect in the case, and believe multiple people may have been involved.

Richard's cousin, William Robertson, described the father of six as the ultimate family man.

"Richard was the best guy anybody could ever know," Robertson said. "I think he should have been voted for the father of the year award."

Roberston looked through pictures of his cousin Monday. He said Richard could usually be found with one of his children in his arms.

Some of the photos go all the way back to their childhood.

"He was my best friend growing up. We did everything together," he said.

Robertson wants to know why these pictures are now only memories.

"Why would you do that to a person?" he asks of the unknown suspects.

Robertson said he spoke with two people who witnessed Daughenbaugh being attacked.

The bystanders told him that a group of teenagers were beating Daughenbaugh when they tried to jump in and stop them.

"They just couldn't stop it," he said. "There was too many of them."

With no named suspects, Robertson hopes for answers on what happened and justice for whoever killed the dedicated dad.

"I don't know what hurts more," he said. "Me missing him, or watching his family hurt because they miss him."

Police said yesterday that they believed an altercation led to the attack. They continued interviews with witnesses Monday.
