Malls and stores will be extra busy this weekend with people shopping for back-to-school items.
The Iowa Sales Tax Holiday began Friday and ends Saturday at midnight.

Every store that is normally open during the holiday is required to participate.

This sales holiday came just in time for kids going back to school near the end of August.

"It's a nice little incentive, I think it encourages other stores to have their back to school sales this weekend, so all around I think you get a good deal," said Addie Vance, a shopper at Target.

Clothes are tax-free as long as they are under $100 each.

"I think it's great because everybody needs to save some money right now, so I'm just looking for extra ways to save money," said Katie Linde, another shopper.

"I have three daughters, so I need the discounts when raising three girls," said Vance.

However, not all items are tax-free. Some items like watches, jewelry and sporting equipment are not included.
When it comes to back-to-school clothing, even the kids are ready to show off their new clothes.

"I'm really excited, I got a cool new backpack and a new binder so I'm excited to see my friends again," said Natalie, a shopper.

This is Iowa's 14th year of participating in the tax-free holiday.
