The Grand Ave. bridge at the corner of 63rd Street in West Des Moines will not be opening any time soon.

Construction in the area has run into several problems since it started last March.  Workers struggled with weather issues and unexpected boulders found once they tore down the bridge.

Some people who live and work nearby the project are getting tired of hearing about new problem after new problem.

Businesses nearby have lost customers due to the construction blocking people from easily crossing from Des Moines into West Des Moines.

"Well, at this point you're thinking, It's gonna get done when it gets done," said Bill Boggs, Sully's Irish Pub owner.  "I was already expecting it not to get done this year anyway."

The City of Des Moines will charge the construction company building the bridge, Jenco, 5,000  dollars a day for every day the bridge goes past the September 27th deadline.

Jenco did not return our calls.  According to the city, Jenco will be releasing an official schedule for the Grand Ave. bridge's completion next week.
