One man was hospitalized after an overnight shooting in Des Moines' Drake neighborhood.

Around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Des Moines Police say officers on the scene heard gunshots near the 2200 block of University Avenue.

After receiving several 911 calls, police found a gunshot victim at 22nd Street and Carpenter Avenue. He was taken to Mercy Hospital.

Afterward, police say more loud noises were heard that may or may not have been additional gunshots.

"Right now our ident technicians are processing this scene and they're breaking it down from where we believe the shooting may have taken place, all the way back to where we found our victim, and they're just collecting any evidence they can find between those two locations," said Lieutenant Chris Scott with Des Moines Police.

There is no suspect information at this time.
