Cabins for Campers

HUBBELL REALTY COMPANY TO BUILD NEW CABINS AT EASTER SEALS' CAMP SUNNYSIDE. A multitude of companies, trade partners, volunteers and associates will come together to tear down and rebuild the cabins, working around the clock for seven days.

Through sponsorship donations of time, talent and product, Hubbell will construct two 7,584 square foot cabins to replace the current ones. ; The cabins at Camp Sunnyside were built by volunteers in the 1960s and have been used for year-round programming for over 50 years. Not only are the current cabins outdated and well-loved, but shower facilities and storm shelters are located in detached buildings.  The new cabins will feature sleeping accommodations for 45 campers and 15 staff members per cabin. ; Each cabin will have restroom and shower facilities, a secure storm shelter and a recreation room, providing ease of accessibility for both campers and staff members.

Camp Sunnyside is a place where children and adults with and without disabilities gather to enjoy themselves and explore all their potentials. Campfires, sing-a-longs, arts and crafts, nature walks, swimming and horseback riding all provide the excitement of a traditional summer camp in a fully accessible setting. We could not be more thrilled that Hubbell has chosen us for this project, said Easter Seals ; Iowa President and CEO, Sherri Nielsen. At Camp Sunnyside, our mission is to ensure that all people living with disabilities have the same opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities. These new cabins will be truly life changing for our clients and the staff who support them. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and we are so grateful to Hubbell for making it happen.

Hubbell Realty Company has executed two other & ;extreme& ; projects, including building a home for a family in need for ABC's Extreme Home Makeover in September 2006 and building 9 Homes in 9 Days for Anawim Housing in September 2009. Events like these are a huge undertaking. With so many moving pieces coming together at a fast pace, our team is required to put forth a great effort while working effectively and efficiently on little sleep and a lot of adrenaline.  Every moment is worth it because what we can build with many hands in a mere week is astounding, said Hubbell Realty Company President and CEO, Rick Tollakson.Hubbell believes in the mission of Easter Seals.  We have recognized their need to replace their deteriorating cabins and look forward to providing them with facilities that campers will enjoy for years to come.
