Flyers posted around Marshalltown advertise a $5,000 dollar reward for a stolen safe.  Between July 6th and 8th, burglars broke into a storage unit at 415 N. Third street in Marshalltown.

They took a large safe. In it was around $250,000 dollars of silver coins and bars.

Private Detective Craig Brooks was hired to look into it.

"I received a call from an elderly lady who had a safe, it's been there for 50 years," explains Brooks.

The silver was inherited from her father's business.

"Dad was a business man she said. He saved his stuff.  Grew up during the depression, that's how they all saved their money," says Brooks.

He originally thought it could be insurance fraud, however, the woman did not have a policy so he took the case.

Brooks says the people who stole it knew what they were looking for and it had to be more than one person.

"If that thing was full, it was a four to six person job.  So somebody knows.  Somebody out there knows," says Brooks.
