Ten to 15 thousand people will be heading downtown for 80/35 this weekend.

Music fans will be pouring in on Friday and Saturday, but right now, downtown Des Moines is just flooded with set up crews.

"We're starting to do sound and lights, we're closing the streets, and just getting ready to bring everything in," said Amedeo Rossi, the 80/35 project manager.

The set up began yesterday with a lot of chain link fence, a few tents left to pop up today... And they're hoping things will be ready for all the extra visitors.

"This kind of project is always kind of an uphill climb. You have to work hard on a lot of details, and you always forget something, but right now we're on schedule and looking good," Rossi said.

They're on schedule and hoping that traffic goes smoothly.

They'll be closing roads starting Wednesday night, but people who work downtown don't anticipate too much trouble.

"I think that the congestion isn't too bad when you know it's coming," said Josh Hulling of Des Moines.

Locust and some of its adjacent streets will be closed, but seasoned event–goers say there are other options.

"What I typically do is go down MLK as well, so that's probably about the easiest way to go," said Alan Caniglia of Des Moines.

Dart will also be running a route directly around the main stage so people can park a little farther out and catch a ride. All the extra traffic means a big event for the city.

"We are lucky that we have a good space here in Des Moines to have these types of functions," Hulling said.

Organizers said they're not expecting too much road congestion. This is the music festival's sixth year.

"Should be pretty smooth sailing, very minimal delays," Amedeo said.
