A RAGBRAI celebrity will be making a return for the ride through Iowa after months of lying low.

Lance Armstrong will be riding in three or four days of RAGBRAI, beginning in Council Bluffs. This is Armstrong's fifth RAGBRAI, but it will be his first public event after admitting to using drugs to help him win seven Tour de France titles.

"You know he cheated, and he said he didn't cheat and he kept saying that over and over again, so because of that, I think there is a little resistance," said Rick Riley, a cyclist and former RAGBRAI participant.

"I think people are still a little bitter about it but they'll forgive, we always have," said Bob Maural, owner of Cumming's Tap.

While Iowans think he could've made better choices, they still see him as a fellow athlete and RAGBRAI rider.

"He accomplished a lot for both the sport and also for what he's done for Livestrong. He has accomplished a lot as a person, whether you like him or not," said Bif Ridgeway of Bike World.

"He still has a lot of fans here in Iowa and I'm glad he finally came clean so now he can be a regular person just like the rest of us," said Maural.

RAGBRAI is held from July 21-27.
