A local mother is speaking out against the Des Moines School Board and wants them all to be replaced.

Heather Ryan created a campaign called, "Bounce the Board" to replace board members Dick Murphy, Teree Caldwell-Johnson and Connie Boesen.

"They're supposed to represent us and they owe us some answers," said Ryan. "I have 3 girls in the Des Moines public school and that is probably my main motivation because I know they're being shortchanged, as are 30,000 other children in the school district. They are being shortchanged by this horrendous school board."

Ryan said the private meetings held behind closed doors about firing former Superintendent Nancy Sebring was against the rules.

"What are they hiding? I don't know because they won't tell us and that's not representation of the people," said Ryan.

Meanwhile, the "Bounce the Board" Facebook and Twitter pages have been gaining in popularity.

"I'm hoping that this campaign will bring out the voters. Traditionally we get about 5,000 people voting in the school board elections. The elections September 10th and I hope we have a bigger turn out and a lot of candidates just flooding in the candidate pool and we have some real choices..." said Ryan.

ABC5 left messages with the three board members, but they did not return our calls.
