The Iowa Supreme Court gave extra funding to the clerk of courts and changes will begin as soon as this July.

Before, the offices were closed Tuesday afternoons so clerks could catch up on the backlog. Now, after the 3.5% increase, all 99 county offices will be open Monday through Friday, 8-4:30 p.m.

The increase in funds also means around 40 jobs will be created.

"I hope it will help the public, because now you don't have to worry about 'when is the court house closed,' you can just come down and it will always be open. That's what it should be for the public and taxpayers," said Beth Baldwin, District Court Administrator.

The northern part of the state will begin these office hours in July and the rest of the state will begin them September 3 of this year.
