Simpson College in Indianola is home to the new sculpture created by Seward Johnson, "God Bless America," based off of Grant Wood's 1930's original painting, "American Gothic."

The life-size sculpture traveled from Dubuque in eight pieces. It stands at twenty-five feet and weighs 30,000 pounds.

"It's the Iowa History Center here at Simpson College that brought it, and our goal at the history center is to bring history to Iowans and promote Iowa history and what better way to do that than with this statue," said Bill Friedricks of the Iowa History Center.

The sculpture will stay at the college until December then head to a new home.
