A truck driver lived through his worst nightmare on the way from Des Moines to Sioux City on Monday.

Storms passed through central Iowa with high winds throughout the afternoon.  At first, truck driver Ross Marks did not think these winds were any stronger than what he had already experienced.

"I looked in my mirror and the trailer would be over the white line," Marks said.  "I've had that happen before.  I didn't think much of it, but it just kept getting stronger.  It was really, really, really strong wind."

A gust of wind blew the semi Marks was driving off the road, and on to its side in a ditch on Highway 141 West of Jamaica, Iowa.

"It was scary."

One of the people driving behind Marks came to help him smash his driver's side window so he could crawl to safety.

Traffic was stopped going both ways while crews worked for over an hour to put the truck upright to be towed.
