A vigil on Friday night remembered the victim of Des Moines' latest murder, 20-year-old Kenyatta Taylor.

"It was senseless, a senseless killing," said Renee Miller, Taylor's grandmother.

Family and friends stood with candles and roses only feet from the spot Taylor died in the courtyard of Oakridge Apartments.

The family says whoever killed Taylor robbed him from a better future. Even though he spent years in prison, his family could see he legitimately wanted to change his life.

"Whoever did it, they need to come forward, they need to turn themselves in," said Elizabeth Jennings, the mother of Taylor's son.  "There's got to be some kind of closer in this."

Taylor leaves behind two kids. No one at the vigil could offer any theories on who might have murdered him.
