Cold weather brings a greater chance of having car problems, but there are a few specific things you can watch out for.

The first of those things is the car's battery. Car–X Manager Jerry Feauto said they're one of the most common winter car issues.

"They just lose their charge," he said. "It's a good idea to get them checked every season."

A dead battery can be taken care of by jumping the car, but if something happens while you're out on the road, the fix might not be quite as easy.

Jerry said there are a few measures you can take to keep your vehicle running well on bad roads.

"The biggest thing is your tire pressure, and it's a good idea to always keep it full of gas," said Feauto. "And it goes right back to keeping battery at 100 percent, fluids and suspension — suspension's a really big one to keep you handling the best that the car can handle."

It's important to have your car checked out before winter each year, because it's easier to prevent these issues than it is to fix them.

Feauto said the best thing to do if you experience car trouble is to bring it in to a shop and get the problem figured out right away.
