Only a few days remain to buy your Christmas presents and small businesses in Historic Valley Junction are some of the places people are choosing to spend their money.
"This weekend was fantastic," said Kelsey Mihalovich, owner of Hinge. "Probably one of our best weekends we've had this month."
Mihalovich opened up her store this September.
"It's been a wonderful first Christmas," she said.
Shoppers in her store sometimes need to work their way around shoulder to shoulder because so many come in.
It is clear to her and many local owners that despite big turnouts for Black Friday deals and cyber sales, shoppers haven't forgotten about the little guys.
"They're coming in saying, 'That's why we're here. We want to support small business," said Kelly Sharp, Heart of Iowa Marketplace owner.
Sharp's seeing an increase in sales in some parts of her business this year. She had to call in friends and family to help her meet demand and ordered extra supplies, which is a problem she is thankful to have.
"It makes me feel good that everybody thinks about supporting small businesses and how important they are to our economy," she said.
