People in a Des Moines neighborhood woke up to police swarming a home as part of a metro-wide drug bust Wednesday morning.
A northeast Des Moines home on Ovid Ave. and East Eighth was the target of the officers arrival.
The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement led the investigation that pointed them to this house.
Beverly Ann Hickcox, the owner of the home, was arrested and charged with conspiracy to distribute meth.
Neighbors say they don't know her very well and that the street is usually pretty quite.
They say they didn't hear any sirens or gunfire and only noticed the activity when looking outside.
"We're only two houses away from where they were at," says Deb Dinovo. "To me it was very scary because like I said, it still has, has - no idea what was going on there.
"I just assumed it was a big investigation and somebody's really in trouble," neighbor Patricia Burch says. "They're going to have to haul out not only people, they have to haul out items that they have."
Seven other people were arrested in Des Moines and one from Altoona. They're also all charged with conspiracy to distribute meth.
