INDIANOLA, Iowa (AP) - An Iowa man has been hospitalized after being shot by one of his fellow deer hunters in the fog.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says 58-year-old Miles Sagen was injured around 8:30 Sunday morning while hunting west of Indianola.
Sagen was taken to a hospital in Des Moines for treatment.
Recreational safety officer Allen Crouse says Sagen was shot by someone else in his nine-person hunting party.
Crouse says Sagen was hit be a deer slug fired from 144 yards away. At the time, Crouse says it was impossible to see more than 100 yards away because of the fog.
Crouse says he urges people not to hunt in dense fog because it's not safe.
The incident remains under investigation.
