Known as the bass guitarist on tour with Justin Bieber and founder of HarvSquad Production, Bernard “BHarv” Harvey shows his philanthropic side by offering a scholarship to talented high school students in Kansas City.

Kansas City, KS (PRWEB) November 20, 2012

It’s not every day that a high school student gets to come into close contact with an internationally known musician, and one in Justin Bieber’s band at that. But in late October, Bernard “BHarv” Harvey did just that. A graduate of J.C. Harmon High School in Kansas City, BHarv now lives between Atlanta and Los Angeles and spends a great deal of time on tour with pop sensation Justin Bieber.

BHarv visited his Alma Mater to roll out a scholarship opportunity to J.C. Harmon students as a way of showing thanks and investing in his community along with the teachers and schools that motivated him to pursue music education. As a Kansas City native, BHarv spent years honing his skills playing multiple instruments from the piano to bass guitar and learning how to write music compositions. Today, along with his music production company HarvSquad, he produces work for critically acclaimed artists such as Justin Bieber and Kandi Burruss.

During the visit to J.C. Harmon, BHarv and colleagues from HarvSquad addressed more than 200 students from the marching band to school choir all in an effort to inspire the youth to embrace their craft, market themselves, and to pursue their musical talent at a college level. An accomplished bass guitarist, BHarv shared what the HarvSquad deems as the 4 P’s, which include Knowing Your Purpose, Paying Your Dues, Passion versus Pennies, and Polishing Your Craft.

The college scholarship opportunity was rolled out in late October with an application deadline due by this spring in 2013. Eligible high school juniors and seniors currently enrolled at J.C. Harmon in creative arts programs may apply for this scholarship by submitting a full application and video with a one-minute introduction stating, ‘Why I am inspired by music’ and five-minute presentation of a talent such as singing or dancing.
