If the quarterback controversy at Iowa State was over, it didn't take long for it to begin again. Jared Barnett's play in Iowa State's 31-10 loss to Oklahoma State prompted head coach Paul Rhoads to bench Barnett and play Steele Jantz for the entire 4th quarter.
"I didn't know who would be the starter on Sunday of this past week" said Rhoads.
"I wanted to see how they practiced and it could have been Steele but Jared had a very good week of practice."
A good week of practice didn't allow for a very good game. Barnett completed 19 of 39 passes for 206 yards and 1 touchdown. Barnett was on the run for much of the game and overthrew many of his receivers. He also threw an interception that led to an Oklahoma State touchdown.
"Them flushing me out of the pocket and making me have to throw on the run and making me have to pull it down and run that made it a lot harder for us to get our offense on track" said Barnett.
"For the most part there were a few plays here and there that we missed but their defense really came to play."
Iowa State (4-3, 1-3) will look to get back on track next Saturday at home against Baylor.
"We go back to work we go to correct whatever we do from a players prospective, from a coaches perspective, from everyone involved we go to correct what mistakes we made" said RB Jeff Woody.
