Fred Hoiberg, mens basketball coach at Iowa State University, will be announced as the 2013 Robert D. Ray Pillar of Character Award recipient. Coach Hoiberg and Governor Robert D. Ray, will be present for the announcement.

The Ray Awards are presented by Character Counts In Iowa and reflect former Gov. Robert D. Ray's lifelong commitment to civility and character development.

The award is presented each spring to individuals who consistently demonstrate good character as a visible role model.  Past recipients include Aaron Kampman, Dallas Clark, Shawn Johnson, Norman Borlaug, and Coach Ed Thomas (posthumously).

Coach Hoiberg will accept the Ray Award on April 19, 2013 at Character Counts In Iowa's All-Star Evening in West Des Moines.  An All-Star Evening is presented by Hy-Vee and benefits Character Counts In Iowa.
