Driver Found Dead After Water Works Crash

DES MOINES--One man is dead and another recovering after crashing into a pond in Water Works Park Monday morning.

Around 7 this morning police were called to Water Works, where they say a car swerved, hit a concrete embankment and landed in a pond. The driver died from the impact.

The driver has been identified as Mang Chan of Des Moines.

The passenger was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police would not say what caused the driver to swerve off the road. A full toxicology test is planned as the investigation continues.
