Pierre Pierce Enters "Not Guilty" Plea

ADEL- Pierre Pierce is pleading not guilty in the criminal case against him.

The former Hawkeye standout faces burglary and assault charges stemming from an incident with an ex-girlfriend in her West Des Moines townhome last month.

Monday, Pierce refused to waive his right to a speedy trial, which means it must begin by mid-May.

Court documents state that pierce choked the victim, threatened her with a knife and tore off her clothes during the incident last month.

If convicted on all four charges against him, Pierce could spend up to 56 years in prison.
