Recovery crews are on the search for a man who went into the Des Moines River this morning.
Sgt. Brent Harris of the Des Moines Police Department said at 10:45 a.m. Dax Bell, 23, was involved in a minor accident on the 200 block of eastbound I-235.
As police arrived to the scene, they saw Bell running along the west river bank. He climbed over the concrete wall and hung above the river.
Bell fell into the river and went over the Center Street Dam. Officers were not able to rescue him. The Des Moines Fire Department Wet Team has been unsuccessful in locating Bell. Search efforts are continuing.
