IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - The University of Iowa is to receive a nearly $75,000 federal grant for Russian studies.
U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley on Friday announced the grant from U.S. Department of Education through the Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad Program.
The federal department says the university will use the money for a dozen students to study Russian linguistics and culture. The students are to spend nine weeks in intensive study in Iowa and Moscow.
The funds also will pay for training to certify three University of Iowa instructors as Russian foreign language testers.
