Iowa man pleads guilty in murder case

MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) - A man accused of the 2008 shooting death of a Mason City man has pleaded guilty to lesser charges.

Andre Wells Jr. was charged with first-degree murder and first-degree burglary in the killing of Isidoro Erreguin. Wells pleaded guilty on Monday in Cerro Gordo County District Court to involuntary manslaughter and first-degree robbery. Sentencing is set for May 7.

A telephone call on Tuesday to his attorney, Eric Kenyatta Parrish, was not immediately returned.

Wells was 1 of 3 people charged in the case. Damion Seats was convicted in 2009 of first-degree murder and first-degree robbery and sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Jamie McFarland agreed to guilty to first-degree burglary in a plea deal with the state.
