Sioux City man charged with killing roommate

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) - Sioux City police say a 60-year-old man is accused of killing his roommate after an argument.
Authorities say Sinh Manivanh (SIN' MAHN'-ee-wahn) is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of 62-year-old Phomma Vanhthong (POH'-muh WONG'-tong) on Tuesday. Police say the two got into argument in their apartment.
Vanhthong was found dead in the kitchen.
Manivahn made his initial court appearance Wednesday. Mike Williams of the state public defender's office was appointed his attorney.
A telephone call to Williams seeking comment Thursday was not immediately returned.
