DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A Des Moines couple has been charged with burglary for forcing open a door and entering a house they thought was their own.
The couple, 31-year-old Shantel Diane Morrison and 30-year-old Joshua Aaron Pray, claim they were so intoxicated they picked the wrong house when they came home from an evening on the town.
Detective Smith said Morrison and Pray told him they had been out drinking and apparently were intoxicated Sunday morning when they entered the wrong house.
The pair allegedly broke into the home of Javier Pagannazario.
Pagannazario says his wife, Genoveva, was awakened by footsteps upstairs. They found Pray asleep on a couch and Morrison upstairs partially undressed. Both ran from the house after being discovered. Police traced the pair through the license plate of the van they drove away in.
